Calculate and Verify Volunteer Hours

Viewing Your Hours:

All time hours: Check the Impact Summary table on your dashboard to see your all-time hours.

Weekly Hours (Monday–Sunday): See the email we send every Monday with your hours from the previous week.

Calculating Your Total Volunteer Hours:

Add the following from your Impact Summary:

• Coaching Activity: Hours all time – the total time you’ve spent tutoring.

• Certifications: Earn 1 hour per quiz passed (including the UPchieve 101 quiz).

• Hours elapsed: Hours from your weekly availability that have “elapsed.”

  • Example: If you selected 10 hours this week, they become elapsed hours next Monday.

  • To calculate, divide by 10.

• Referral hours: Earn 12 minutes for each referral who signs up using your custom link, or 1 hour for every 5 referrals.

Additional Hours Not Listed in Impact Summary:

Track these separately:

• Coach meetings: Earn 1 hour per meeting attended. Our optional coach meeting is held on the 1st Wednesday of every month at 9 PM ET.

• Approved projects: Any time spent working on UPchieve-approved projects.

Volunteer Hour Verification

Does UPchieve provide a letter or proof of volunteering? 

Yes! Request a signed letter here: https://upchieve.org/verify-volunteer-hours. We will send you a signed document on UPchieve letterhead with your hours within 8 business days.

Does UPchieve offer certificates to recognize volunteers' service?

Yes! UPchieve launched the UPchieve Service Award to recognize and celebrate the incredible commitment of our volunteer coaches! Check out this article for more information

Note: Letters and service awards won’t be processed if you haven’t completed onboarding or if you are banned from our platform.

Can I get my school's volunteer form signed?

Please send your forms to support@upchieve.org. Forms are typically signed within 8 business days. To speed things up, fill out the form as completely as possible (full name, total hours, supervisor, etc.) and attach a screenshot of your weekly hours summary or Impact Summary so we can verify your hours.

My school requires me to log my hours on a site (e.g., MobileServe, X2VOL, Schoolinks). Would that be an issue?

No, that’s fine! Just make sure any verification emails go to support@upchieve.org

You’ll need to either:

• Email us a screenshot of your weekly hour summary in a separate email, or

• Attach a screenshot from your school’s site showing your logged hours.

Reporting Issues

I believe my hours were logged incorrectly, who should I contact? 

Please refer to our Volunteer Hour Tracking Guide for clarification on how UPchieve calculates hours. If you still believe there's an error, email support@upchieve.org with a screenshot of your Impact Summary and the corrected hours.

I sent a form but it hasn’t been signed.

We kindly ask for your patience and that you wait 8 business days before following up about your form.

Does UPchieve provide performance reviews, and letters of recommendation, or serve as a job reference?

Due to our large volunteer base and limited resources, we can’t provide personalized feedback or job references. However, we can verify your volunteer hours! Just visit the Verify Your Volunteer Hours page, and we'll process it within 8 business days.

Where can I find the date I passed a quiz?

Quiz pass dates aren’t visible on the platform, unfortunately. Try your best to recall when you completed the quiz.
