All volunteers.
There is no age restriction.
There is no time limit to qualify for an award.
Each award tier includes:
A formal PDF certificate with the UPchieve logo and the signature of the Volunteer Program Manager and Executive Director
Unique certificate title and wording based on the award tier
NEW! Most digital certificates are emailed within a few minutes.
Certificates that include NTHS, webinar, or special project hours may take up to 8 business days to be sent.
Gold-tier volunteers who live in the U.S. may request a printed certificate (on high-quality cardstock), delivered by mail within 6–8 weeks
The Service Award has three tiers based on your total lifetime volunteer hours (no time limit to qualify):
Minimum 50 hours
Recognizes volunteers who have made a consistent and meaningful contribution to students.
Minimum 100 hours
Honors sustained commitment to educational equity through ongoing volunteer service.
Minimum 150 hours
Awarded to volunteers who have shown exceptional dedication and impact through extensive service.
Tutoring sessions (active time helping students)
Certification quizzes passed (1 hour per quiz)
Coach meeting attendance (1 hour per meeting)
Approved special volunteer projects (assigned by UPchieve staff — must consult to check availability)
🔔 Elapsed availability hours do not count toward this award.
The Service Award is based on your total lifetime volunteer hours.
