UPchieve is a one-on-one, human-centered online tutoring platform. AI tools can support learning, but should never replace your own thinking or your coach’s guidance. This policy helps protect academic integrity, build trust, and ensure effective learning.
Many schools prohibit use of AI for homework, while others allow AI for research, brainstorming, or grammar help, but require teacher approval and proper citation. Because rules vary, you should always follow your school’s policy.
If you want to use AI for schoolwork, you should:
Check your teacher’s expectations or your school’s student code of conduct first
Never use AI to cheat on exams or tests
Never submit AI-generated work as your own
AI can be helpful when used responsibly for learning:
If something is confusing, AI can help explain it in another way or give an example.
AI can help generate extra practice questions if you need more support beyond your materials. Make sure to ask AI for links to the sources so you can double check if they’re coming from educational webpages.
Sample prompt: “Generate 5 algebra practice problems solving for x. Provide links to the sources so I can verify they are educational.”
AI can help explain a word or phrase in simpler terms so you can understand it and then explain it in your own words.
Sample prompt: “Explain the word ‘metaphor’ in simple terms and give a quick example.”
AI can help you recall formulas, grammar rules, or key concepts you’ve already learned.
Sample prompt: “I need to remember the quadratic formula for solving equations. Can you remind me and share an example?”
Your coach should not be writing essays for you nor should they use AI to write your essay. Your coach can help you plan, organize, and improve your writing, but the ideas and writing should be yours. Your coach has several resources they can use to help you craft well-written essays.
If you don’t understand how to solve something, your coach will help guide you step by step. AI should not replace that learning process.
Feedback should come from your coach so it is personalized and aligned with your assignment and goals.
That is cheating. Instead of asking AI to help you cheat, come to UPchieve before your test so a coach can help you study and prep.
UPbot (UPchieve’s AI tool) is available to all students (visible via the toolbar icon).
Students are encouraged to use UPbot before using other AI models.
All questions are visible to everyone in the session for transparency.
It depends on your school. You should check with your teacher or your school’s student code of conduct before using it.
Coaches can’t help with AI-written essays because it’s against UPchieve’s AI usage policy. However, they can help you build an outline, understand requirements, and improve your own writing. Also, if you submit an AI-generated essay at school, your school may detect it and you may fail the assignment.
AI checkers can make mistakes. There’s not one checker that’s 100% reliable. If you are sure you’ve been using your own words, and properly citing when applicable, you are doing the right thing.
