What can I use UPchieve for?
Our Academic Coaches are like superheroes for your studies! They can't do the work for you (learning is all about YOU!), but they'll be there to help you conquer any challenges:
Request a session when you need to:
Break down tough homework assignments
"I'm stuck on this problem in my physics assignment. Can you help me understand the steps to solve it?"
Prepare for a quiz, mid-term, or final exam: Get some extra practice and review key concepts with your coach.
"I have a biology exam next week on cell respiration. Can we go over the main steps and practice some sample questions?"
Review quiz mistakes: Analyze your quiz mistakes with your coach to improve for next time.
"I just got my history quiz back and I did poorly on the questions about the French Revolution. Can we go over the concepts I missed and figure out how to improve for the next quiz?"
Clear up missed lessons
"I missed the lesson on factoring polynomials. Here's a copy of what was discussed and the homework. Can you walk me through the steps so I can understand the homework?"
Ask those tricky questions: Shy to ask in class? Get one-on-one help with anything confusing.
"I'm confused about the difference between metaphors and similes in English class. Can you explain it to me?"
Plan for college: Your coach can help you understand deadlines, and requirements, and even brainstorm essay ideas.
"I'm starting to think about colleges, but I'm not sure where to start. Can you help me understand the application process?"
Prepare for standardized tests: Your coach can provide test-taking tips and strategies to boost your confidence.
"I'm taking the SATs in the fall. Can you give me some tips for improving my reading comprehension?"
What isn't allowed at UPchieve?
No sharing personal information: Chat with your coach only on the platform. No sharing personal info like last name, address, email, phone numbers, or social media handles. The same goes for links to outside sites like Zoom or Google Hangouts.
No cheating on exams or homework: UPchieve is about learning, not cheating. Your coach can't give you exam answers or write your essays. They're there to help you understand, not do the work for you.
No inappropriate or offensive language and topics: Treat everyone with kindness and avoid using offensive language or insults. Keep conversations focused on your schoolwork and avoid inappropriate topics.
No disrespecting: Treat everyone with kindness, just like you'd want to be treated. If someone ever feels uncomfortable, stop what you're doing. It's never okay to pressure someone into answering a question or doing something they're not comfortable with.
