Overview
After completing a session on UPchieve, Coaches can initiate 1:1 direct messages (DMs) with students. These asynchronous messages can include additional resources, words of encouragement, or even a follow up on tests and homework.
Who Can Initiate DMs: Only Coaches
Notification: Each DM or reply triggers an email notification to the recipient
Moderation: All messages are moderated by staff and AI
How it Works
Go to Session History
Find the session & student you would like to message and click Session Recap
At the bottom of Session Chat, type your message to the student
When a message is sent, an email notification is sent to the student (and vice versa).
Message notifications are displayed in the left-hand navigation bar.
Purpose of DMs
Our goal is for DMs to encourage student engagement with UPchieve. Here’s how you can effectively use DMs:
Share resources: Share helpful study materials and links
Build Student Confidence: Send messages of positivity and motivation
Follow-up: Check in on student performance after tests
Offer Practice: Share relevant practice problems
You can also use DMs to schedule follow-up sessions with students. Remember: It’s crucial to be punctual and reliable for these sessions as students depend on you and can be discouraged if this session is missed.
When to Use DMs
DMs are ideal for quick tips, non-urgent advice, and sharing of resources.
For more complex questions or urgent assistance, encourage students to request a new session.
